E-NEWS 3RD OCTOBER 2025
Seasons of Creation – Thank You
As September draws to a close, may I take this opportunity to sincerely thank all who participated in worship throughout this month of Seasons of Creation.
To our Worship Committee – your careful planning, creativity, and dedication helped us hold services that spoke both to the heart and to the urgent issues of our time.
To our Sustainability Group – with special thanks to Sonia Gross-Petrie and friends – we are deeply grateful for your theological insight, lived experience, and the passion you bring to creation care. Together you have woven liturgy, prayer, and reflection into a rich tapestry of gratitude and renewed commitment to God’s creation.
Movie Afternoon – Think Like a Forest
After church on Sunday, a number of us stayed behind to watch the film Think Like a Forest. We had a good turnout, including some visitors, and it was heartening to join together with like-minded people in reflecting on the wisdom of the natural world and our place within it. The film offered both challenge and inspiration as we continue our Seasons of Creation journey.
Visit with Sir Lloyd Geering
On Tuesday I had the joy of visiting Sir Lloyd Geering, and I’m delighted to share a photo so you can see just how well he looks at 107 years old. He’s a legend who continues to inspire. As always, he sends his love and greetings to all of us here at St Andrew’s.

This Sunday at St Andrew’s
This coming Sunday is Communion Sunday, and we invite you to stay afterwards for a shared lunch together.
Our theme for reflection is Lament and the Mustard Seed. We will be looking both at the Book of Lamentations and at Jesus’ teaching on the mustard seed. Lament is an inevitable part of our lives—it gives voice to our grief, our longing, and our hope. But in the midst of lament, Jesus reminds us that faith does not need to be perfect.
When the disciples asked, “How can we increase our faith?”, Jesus pointed them not to quantity but to quality. Even the smallest seed of faith—one small act of kindness, one word of truth, one deed of justice, one service of compassion without entitlement—can grow into something life-giving and transformative. Come on Sunday to hear more, and to share in the bread, the cup, and our fellowship together.
Church group photo after church
Please bring your big smiles to church this Sunday. After church we will be taking a group photo for our Annual Report for this year. I’m not sure if we have ever had a group church photo taken, so this might be a first for many of you. Please don’t be shy, whether you are visiting for the first time or occasionally we would love to have you join us for this historical photo.
Have a wonderful weekend. Ka kite anō. 🌿
