E NEWS 4th September 2026
Talofa lava, kia ora and warm Spring greetings. Spring has definitely arrived and it is nice to enjoy some lovely warm weather for a change.
Wednesday night at Naenae College was the Living Wage Election Forum probably 4-500 people present with a good contingent from St Andrews on the Terrace. Thank you Tania for co-ordinating us. It is sad to hear the stories of those who struggle on minimum wage and the great stories of those who are finally receiving the living wage and the difference it makes in their lives especially in terms of allowing more family time with not always having to work overtime to make ends meet.
Today Friday we are hosting the Spiritual, wairua and religious care in healthcare in Aotearoa NZ in our Church Hall. It is an honour that I have been invited to be part of this conference.
Tomorrow I will be doing the blessing out at Porirua for an Art Exhibition called “Malamalama” at the Pataka Toi Art Museum in the afternoon. The artist is Alison Leauanae.
Rev. Dorothy Harvey’s Memorial Service will be held at SAOTT on Wednesday afternoon 23rd September at 2.30pm. The family are expecting a small group. If you knew Dorothy and wish to pay your respects you are welcome to join us. If you are able to bring a sweet plate for afternoon tea to supplement the family’s savories that would be much appreciated. Maxine has a noticed attached to this.
This Sunday is Communion and also Father’s Day or Significant parent’s day. I will be exploring the parable of the Prodigal Son. Afterwards, we are invited to join Michael Parker in celebrating his 80th birthday lunch in the hall.
Next week and following is a very very busy week for me. I have been invited on behalf of Queen Margaret College to attend the International Secondary Schools convention at the Auckland Convention Centre from Thursday 10th to Saturday 12th September. I will be attending with Principal Jayne-Anne Young and Board Chair Anna Lillis. I return to Wellington on Sunday morning to be part of the Interfaith panel on Dying Matters at the Wellington Library from 2.30 to 4.30pm.
I will then fly back to Auckland for the Pacific Regional Forum of the Council for World Mission to lead the Bible Studies on “Revisioning Mission” from Monday through to Wednesday. The PCANZ is a member church of CWM. It will be held at the Movenpick Hotel in Auckland. Fortunately, all my airfares are covered by QMC and CWM. If you are free on Sunday afternoon to join me at the library it would be great to see you.
Sunday service on the 13th will be led by Rosemary who will be leading us in a Favorite Hymn Singing Sunday. I will be back to lead our service on the following Sunday. Please remember those of our church who are unwell at home or in hospital. Have a great weekend, ka kite ano. Fei
