E-NEWS FRIDAY 17TH APRIL 2026

Cyclone Vaianu has passed and in this part of the country we were speared from its damaging winds and rain. I do remember those who were in its path. I am thankful that the overhaul of our Civil Defence over the last 2 year is making a significant difference for people in the path of such storms.

In preparing for this Sunday I was looking at the readings back before Easter. The Road to Emmas as well as reflecting on the Easter story. I also had the opportunity to read Jacinda Ardern Memoir. As well as viewing the film.  I could not help but see two young people seeking to change the establish order with kindness, respect, seeking to welcome the those who were different, other.  Both were embraced and welcomed. And both had the the tables turned on them and they were rejected. One crucified and one living in exile. I’m not suggesting that Jacinda is God like. Just wondering about the way societies treat with those who challenge the status to be more inclusive, less violent, more caring.

On my road to Emmas I am left wondering. On Sunday I will see where my wonderings have got too.
