E-NEWS FRIDAY 31ST OCTOBER 2025
Yikes it’s Halloween today. Do you keep candy on hand for trick or treat door knockers regardless of what you think of Halloween, or do you perform a trick? Anyway, I’m currently in Auckland to do a presentation at Vaughan Park Anglican Retreat Centre tonight (Thursday 30th) along with all the annual writers scholars for 2025. Ill be back on Saturday.
I bring greetings from Molly Seah, who was at Wellington Hospital on Monday when I went to visit her. She sends her love to all her dear friends here at St Andrew’s on the Terrace. Please continue to keep her and Michael Parker in our thoughts and prayers as they recover. 💗
On Tuesday, I went to Queen Margaret College to speak at the Junior Assembly about the gift of prayer. I shared with the students how prayer can be a conversation with God in every emotion and moment of life — when we are happy, sad, angry, or afraid — and how God always listens. It was wonderful to see their curiosity and openness as we reflected on the many ways God may answer prayer, sometimes in unexpected and surprising ways.
A reminder that over the coming month we will begin preparing for St Andrew’s Day celebrations and our December fundraising day — which will also include the opening and blessing of our new disability access. Keep an eye out for more details in the E-News following.
23rd November is our Annual Transgender Memorial Day. Mani Mitchell will be sharing their reflection on their life as an intersex person.
This Sunday is communion and at this stage my initial thoughts are that my reflection will focus on Habakkuk’s prayer and the courage to question God in faith. We’ll explore how even in seasons of frustration or waiting, God’s presence is steady and faithful. Or Zaccheus is another possibilty. The jury is still out for me amidst all this busyness.
