CHANGE!
For the last number of months I have been getting a text telling me my monthly cellphone account can’t be paid because my card wont register. I have responded on line to point out that I have a new Visa card and the new number is XXXX.. It doesn’t seem to make any difference. How can I make the change when the technology wont let me! GRRRRRR!
Last Sunday we had a fascinating session conducted by David and Laura Gehrenbeck.
They shared with us how their congregation in the United States planned for and made an enormous change in their parish. It was a process that took more than ten years of planning, negotiating, consulting, talking by a committed group of people. It was inspiring to hear how a vision for their parish emerged and how it was earthed and implemented over that long period of time. They needed to make a change – and they did. Stickability!
“We live in the midst of change” has been said so often that we want to shut it off. But it is true. We ourselves are changing. It is said that a sign of maturity is when the broad shoulders and narrow hips of our youth change places!
Some changes we welcome; some we protest against; and some we ignore.
This Sunday is a Communion Sunday and the Reflection theme is “Re-membering”. I will give you some vignettes about changes that have happened around our communion services – a you will have opportunity to remember what it means for you (I hope!)
