Kia ora o te Whānau

Given the increasing number of cases in Wellington and its greater region, this week we will gather for Sunday worship via Zoom. A link to the service is included below.
Fiona McDougal and David Douglas are leading the service. See David’s message below. Peter Franklin will provide music from his home organ, and Pat Booth and Ken Irwin will lead reading and prayers (respectively). Sue Hirst will ‘host’ the Zoom call. We will likely continue this through March and possibly into April.

If you cannot Zoom from home you might be able to find a family member or someone else from our community where you could join in, with their agreement.
Fiona, David and Sue will be together at Fiona’s home for the service. Being able to move around the community is a definite benefit of the red traffic light system.

See you on line 10 am Sunday.

St Andrew’s On the Terrace is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

—ooOoo—

On Sunday Lent 2 with many others we remember with sorrow and empathy and with some inadequacy the Christchurch terror attacks of the 15th of March 2019. Words cannot express the ongoing grief and loss, the trauma and the pain which survivors, witnesses, whanau and community continue to experience. We particularly remember those undergoing physical and emotional  treatment in their recovery.

We reflect a little on the the Hebrew prophets and  their voice into early Christian times. Also their ongoing message for the Royal Commission of Inquiry subsequent to these tragic events. Maybe there’s an unlikely prophetic link to recent and ongoing government legislation which will be essential for the development of a wider inclusive community in Aotearoa? We listen to words that tell new stories of hope for us to live our lives by and hear the brave honest words of the surviving families. We then share some of the best insights from the Quran that help us sense our deep connection with the mosaic of colour and life found in our common humanity.
We will reflect on the words of carefully chosen hymns and Ken Irwin’s valued prayers will be read for the flexible zoom experience that awaits us.

David Douglas
