Lectures held at St Andrew's are organised by the St Andrew’s Trust for the Study of Religion and Society

Pentecost 17 Reformation 101 & Communion

St Andrews Church 30 The Terrace, Wellington, 6011, Wellington, The Terrace

"Why? What theological changes led to the Protestant Reformation?"  We begin our October Reformation series reflecting on the changes in theology which led to the Reformation.  We also celebrate communion (Itself a hot topic in Reformation times!)

Pentecost 18 Where? Reformation in the context of Europe and Scotland

St Andrews Church 30 The Terrace, Wellington, 6011, Wellington, The Terrace

Where did the Reformation have its birth and why?  What was it about Europe and Scotland which helped different ideas flourish?  Why were local political leaders willing to back the new theology?  We reflect on these things in the second of our October Reformation series.

Pentecost 19 ‘Who? Reformers of the Reformers’ Wall, Geneva’

St Andrews Church 30 The Terrace, Wellington, 6011, Wellington, The Terrace

In Geneva, four reformers are commemorated on the famous Reformers' Wall.  Who are they and why were they reformers?  Also, what did the ordinary people contribute to the Reformation?  We reflect on these things in the third of our October Reformation series

Pentecost 20 ‘How? Printing and the Reformation’

St Andrews Church 30 The Terrace, Wellington, 6011, Wellington, The Terrace

How did the new ideas get around?  Who spread them and by what means?  The recent printing revolution was a great aid to the spread of reforming ideas.  We will reflect on this - and on what was printed - in this the fourth of our October series on the Reformation.
