SUMMARY:Stringendo - Wellington Children’s Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:Stringendo was formed in 2015 by Donald Maurice and Rupa Maitra. Donald and Rupa saw that there was an opportunity to provide younger string players with an opportunity to play together as an orchestra. Alex Vaatstra has been directing the orchestra since the start of 2022. The focus of Stringendo is to develop younger string players with sightreading and ensemble music making skills and most importantly to play music together in a safe\, fun and inclusive environment. Many of the former members of Stringendo have gone on to join full symphony orchestras including Wellington Sinfonietta\, Wellington Youth Orchestra\, and the National Youth Orchestra. Stringendo performed earlier this year at the opening event for Tūmanako – Children’s Art Work for Peace. \nWe are very excited about performing for you today and we hope you enjoy our performance!
