SUMMARY:Duo Enharmonics - Nicole Chao and Beth Chen
DESCRIPTION:Nicole Chao and Beth Chen are a virtuosic pair who have been playing piano duets for six years. They energise classical music through their virtuosic and emotionally thrilling programmes. The “unanimity of feeling” that one reviewer notes arises from their shared musical vision\, which is seen in their harmonised physical gestures and heard in their remarkably synched sonic utterances. Their physical and musical gestures are saturated with subtleties of nuance only made possible after years of full-time duo partnership. \nBach/Kurtág\, Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit (God’s time is the very best time)\nFranz Schubert\, Fantasy in F minor D.940\nRavel/Garban\, La Valse\nJohn Psathas\, Fragment\nSergei Rachmaninov\, Six Morceaux Op 11\nStrauss/Anderson\, Blue Danube Fantasy

SUMMARY:Lunchtime Concert: Quang Hong Luu\, solo piano
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a wonderful programme of Debussy’s:Prelude No.7/II: La terrasse des audiences du clair de lune and Liszt’s complete first volume “Switzerland” from the years of Pilgrimage. \nThe recital will begin with the mysterious and exquisite Prelude and the main part of the program is dedicated to the first volume – Switzerland from the Years of Pilgrimage by Franz Liszt. These are among Liszt’s most celebrated masterworks and the summation of his musical style. This is also the research topic for Luu’s doctoral thesis. Luu is thrilled to begin his own “pilgrimage” in Wellington\, New Zealand\, examining the spiritual experiences of Liszt’s Romantic soul and sharing his first performance in the capital.
