DESCRIPTION:Sat 12 October 2024\, 7pm St Andrew’s on the Terrace\, Wellington (Entry by koha)\nA concert to celebrate the achievements of Jack Body composer\, impresario\, teacher \nJack would have turned 80 this October\, and a number of those who worked with him\, learned from him\, and were inspired by him\, are putting on a concert of his music\, to celebrate his extraordinary achievements.\nThe programme\, in the welcoming surroundings of St Andrew’s on the Terrace\, will include some of his most beautiful compositions\, performed by singers\, pianists\, percussionists\, string players\, a flautist and a guitarist.\nThe concert celebrates the life and work of one of our most original and gifted composers. His operas\, choral\, orchestral\, electro-acoustic and chamber works are internationally acclaimed and recorded.\nIt marks his achievements in mounting large-scale events\, such as the Sonic Circuses of the 1970s and the more recent multicultural events. In developing these events he greatly strengthened cultural links with Indonesia\, China\, Cambodia and throughout Asia\, and his achievements in this are celebrated in those countries to a greater extent than they are celebrated here.\nSuch an influential life\, such creative genius\, is a rare and precious taonga\, and we invite you to join us in recognising his achievements.\nWe look forward to seeing you at this very special 80th-birthday concert!\nYou’re welcome to join us for supper in the hall afterwards too.\nRSVP & enquiries to Robert Oliver: chant4robert@gmail.com
