Come to St Andrew’s on The Terrace for Gender identity Night, Tuesday 12 June 2018. This is part of our Spirited Conversations programme.  We gather at 5pm for free refreshments for a start at 5,30pm.

Mani Mitchell, well known spokesperson on gender identity will convene a panel of those with first hand experience with gender issues.   First we will hear personal narratives, then some education on the variety of gender identities in our society today.  Then there will be time for Q and A and discussion.  Also we hope to make sure people know what resources are available in the community to help everyone with information and transitions

End time about 7pm so you have an evening still available to you!

Mani Bruce Mitchell  was born in Waikato, New Zealand.  Mani is a Counsellor and intersex activist and educator and has appeared on television in the programmes Intersexion (2012), Yellow for Hermaphrodite: Mani’s Story (2003) and Its all in the Mind (2018)

Mani was born and raised in the central North Island on a sheep and cattle farm and educated at Taupo-nui-a-Tia College and the University of Waikato. Since 1996, Mani has been actively involved in education on intersex and gender variance issues, lecturing at universities and running workshops around the world and was also involved in the production of several TV documentaries a film and a photography book. Mani is a member of the New Zealand Association of CounsellorsWorld Professional Association for Transgender Health and the International Transactional Analysis Association.

Mani is the Executive Director of Intersex Trust Aotearoa New Zealand, also known as Intersex Awareness New Zealand.

A documentary called Intersexion (2012) directed by Grant Lahood, features the story of Mani Mitchell and looks at how intersex people navigate their way through life.

Mani also helped organize the third International Intersex Forum in November/December 2013 and is on the local organising committee for the upcoming ILGA conference in  Wellington, 2019.
