Pentecost Sunday is the day when traditionally the church celebrates its birthday. The biblical account of the coming of the Holy Spirit drew the disciples into a group now brave enough to encourage others to follow their leader Jesus. So it seems on Pentecost, (a Jewish harvest festival annually held 50 days after Passover), there was the beginning of what we could call the Christian church. So we celebrate today!
