Hello everyone,

A drippy day today but the gardeners amongst us are probably happy!

On Wed 20th, a Prayer Vigil in St Paul’s marked 50 years of NZ Council of Christian Social Services.  www.nzccss.org.nz   Trish McBride, Lois Robertson and Jeni Bryant worked on a prayer station on St Andrew’s behalf (right hand photo).  It  highlighted compassion, justice and safety for women and children at home, at work, in church, institutional systems and communities.   Others were on human trafficking, homelessness, food justice and more.  An ecumenical service completed the day.  Thank you Trish, Lois and Jeni.

Thanks too to those offering help for the Harvest Café for Pride Festival café on March 9.  A donation’s already been received towards the a coffee cart.  Thank you.  [Use the internet banking info in each week’s order of service.   In the code section put ‘coffeecart’.  The church’s bank account number is 020534 0004022 00.]  A flier on Sunday details help needed – including decorating Sat afternoon and coming  about 9pm to clean up – a fresh pair of legs then’s  helpful.  If you need more, email Susan minister@standrews.org.nz  or speak to Margaret Rushbrook..  Homebaking’s needed for 3 events!:  Our café March 9, the ‘Out in the Park’ interfaith stall Sat March 16 and Petone Harvest Café Sat March 23.  If you can,  please do.  Fliers listing our contribution to Pride Festival (Mar 8-22) will be available Sunday for you to give to others…..

Lynne will also be supplying posters and fliers regarding organ fundraising concerts coming up from April 27.    Put up some posters, keep the dates free,  invite others to come and support the cause.

In these next months we need St Andrew’s Community to put in effort to support our public persona.  There’s work for the café and things we need loaning.  We rely on you coming to fundraising concerts, but just as importantly getting other people interested so we have wellout concerts.  Invite friends to dinner, then comer!  Or just meet at the door.  Sometimes our public reputation does not need a lot of people working personally or practically – in the next few months, more practical, personal effort will be needed.  I’m sure you can!  Please choose activities you can do and sign up.  If you can’t work, you could donate.  If you can’t donate you can spread the word.

This coming Sunday, 24 Feb, we celebrate St A being 179 days old today (Friday 22nd).  We’ll think about “Church now and in the future”.  Georgia Gray is home briefly and will sing  –  always a treat.  After, practise waiata with the social justice education group (11.45-1.00pm).  We gather to remember Margaret Megwyn, 10am Monday Feb 25. And we wish Lloyd Geering a happy 101st birthday on Feb 26.  It’s all go.  Just as well we are nourished by the aquifer of life constantly flowing, deep inside. (note Feb 17th reflection).  See you Sunday.

Susan
