Manage
your accounts with confidence
Wellington’s new Community Accounts Mentor, Debbie Bax, is here
to help not-for-profit groups ensure they have sound financial practices.
Debbie
works for the Community Account Mentoring Service (CAMS) and gives one-on-one
financial mentoring at subsidised rates.
“Our
goal is to train and upskill not-for-profit groups in Wellington,”
says Debbie. “We want to work alongside a group or organisation
and help them set up a system that will work for them.”
Debbie
will not prepare your financial statements or accounts, but will assist
and advice your group on how to manage your own accounts efficiently
and effectively.
She can help you with all your accounting requirements, including:
* preparing
a final set of accounts ready for an auditor
* understanding GST and PAYE
* managing, overhauling or setting up an accounting system
* understanding financial ‘fitness’ requirements
"
We originally started out with a focus on welfare groups but the service
is proving so successful we’ve extended it to all not-for-profit
groups in Wellington City,” says Debbie.
A major
benefit of the service is that it can help a group ensure they have
clear accountability and reporting systems. With sounds financial practices
groups have improved chances of securing funding.
CAMS is
supported by Wellington City Council, The Community Trust of Wellington
and the JR McKenzie Trust.
